Back to School?

Yes, for my little four year old! He'll be starting school for the first time just after the holiday. I just can't believe it is already time for school. I know he's ready and I think I'm ready but here it is regardless. To help me cope, I knit. I found an adorable pencil case pattern from Debbie Bliss and I am knitting two. One for his dear friend Ms. L and one for him. I just hope I can get them done before the bell rings! Do they have bells in preschool?

Crazy Christmas!

Once again time has flown by and I am left wondering what day it is today. Perhaps it is because my boys (4 &2) continue to keep me up at night rendering me nearly unconscious the following day? Or maybe because I am 4 months pregnant and cannot find the extra time this go around to sleep? Or it could be that it is 3 days before Christmas and I still need to buy gifts, wrap them, assemble a jungle gym for my monkeys (again, I mean the boys), blah, blah, blah... I know everyone feels this way during this time of year, but it is still loads of fun. I love getting my sweaters out for the few short weeks we actually might need them here in the desert. I love knitting until my hands are numb and I cannot find another person to knit for. I love baking a new batch of cookies everyday until New Year's. I really love being pregnant this time of year so that I don't need to worry about a single pound I will undoubtedly gain. And when the whoosh and swirl of time and emotions this holiday season is finished and I am looking toward 2010, I think I will be grateful that I filled my days with sweets, yarn and toys!

Bohemia

I have the amazing privilege of being featured at Bohemia, the local artists shop here in Tucson, Az. The shop is near Broadway and Country Club and it features over 200 artists! You are sure to find something for everyone on your list here. The eclectic variety will leave you breathless as you browse through the shop. You could spend a few hours here and still not fully see everything! New items are offered regularly so be sure to check back often. And remember, in our bleak financial times, one of the best things you can do is to support your local economy and Bohemia is the perfect place for that!

Can you feel the love?

The 4th and 4th Artisans Farm was a great success! We came prepared with umbrellas for shade from our summer sun, but ended up needing them for the rain. Go figure. There were lots of shoppers enjoying the cloudy day down Tucson's local strip of independent shops. Lots of artists, an iced coffee and cookie and even a few sales; all ingredients to a great day.

I can feel the love so much that I decided to create a drawing for the Etsy shop. There is an icon near the bottom right corner of each Etsy shop that you can click to create a favorites listing. Its fun to click your favorite items while shopping around. As of today I have 49 hearts, meaning there are 49 fellow Etsians out there who love my shop enough to click that little icon on the bottom right corner and add my shop to their favorites. (The icon reads, "Add seller to favorites"). That way there is a running count for me to draw a winner from. Buyers and sellers alike can add my shop which enters them to win any item listing of their choice. Does that sound like fun or what?

Artisan's Farm

Getting all revved up for the local fair coming up on the 25th. It's on 4th ave. so there are sure to be some artists walking about. I'll be selling my knitting and though it is in the middle of summer, in the middle of the day, in the middle of the desert...I am keeping my hopes high. Check out the poster and come down and see me if you are here. I'll have some pictures up after the event.

Independence Day

What a great family weekend we had over here! Barbeque's, birthday parties, swimming and family all made it a memorable holiday. We were all dressed in our red white and blue and I even thanked the soldier in my life. Getting together with friends and family is one of the greatest things about the holidays but I also think its important to remember why we celebrate. "Freedom isn't free, it comes at the highest of costs" (300). We wouldn't be where we are today without those brave souls that fought for it in the first place, over 200 years ago. Living in America today means we have luxuries that obviously are not the same all over the world. What a great day it will be when we can share the celebration with the world! With all the turmoil overseas we should all be greatful that we live in America! Ok, I will climb down off my soapbox now, I tend to do that.
I did continue knitting a red dress, just like the pink one posted in my shop.
Happy 4th!

Oh my, it's July!

So here I am sweating away my summer in the middle of the desert and trying to knit at the same time! Who's idea was this? Have you ever tried to knit wool on bamboo with sweaty palms? Since its summer, perhaps the idea of slipping into your wet bathing suit from an early morning swim is more understandable. It just doesn't want to work. However, it is also my summer vacation from college so my productivity has increased tremendously, even if the projects are small. I found an adorable baby bootie pattern and am currently working on more boy items as well as photographer's props.

Whoosh! Its 2009.

I know everyone feels the same way that I do about the time warp and the holidays, but this year was crazier than ever. I had the priveledge to create so many adorable and fun custom orders that I never had a minute to spare. But I wanted to write about it before January was through, for crying out loud! So many arm and leg warmers, last count was 14, and not a pair for myself. Of course, I didn't realize this until the other day when my hands were near frozen while I read outside as my boys played. I had to laugh at myself. Sometimes I am not the most practical. I simply must schedule some time for knitting for myself. This should actually be easier than I'd imagine as my New Year's resolution is to buy my yarn locally, or through my Etsy friends, and to knit through my stash. This should be challenging, but we'll see what the year's postings reflect. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
